Engineering Work Underway for Next E&N Trail Expansion
The City of Nanaimo and the Nanaimo Region Rail Trail Partnership are happy to award the engineering and design work for the expansion of the E&N Trail from Downtown to Seventh St. to a joint bid from Golder (Nanaimo), Newcastle Engineering (Nanaimo) and Adapt Transportation (Victoria). The construction of the rail trail meets the City's objectives to "improve connectivity between Downtown and neighbourhoods to the south", among many other goals. We are hoping to identify the safest, most cost-effective, and most user-friendly ways to cross the roads at the many intersections in the Downtown region. We will have findings to present to City Council in January, after which time, it will be open to public consultation.
